Vincenzo Coronelli (1650-1718) Terrestrial Globe, Venice 1688. 24" diameter. Composed of 24 hand tinted copper-engraved half gores and two polar calottes. Housed in impressive blackened bronze stand with acid etched hexagonal horizontal ring and meridian band, likely 20th century addition. Vincenzo Maria Coronelli was an Italian Franciscan friar, cosmographer, cartographer, publisher, and encyclopedist known in particular for his atlases and globes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vincenzo_Coronelli Very good condition with yellowish tint from aged varnish, some light scuffs.
